The Juice Goose iP 1520 is a microcontroller-based power distribution device that can be accessed via Internet or intranet communications using Ethernet or RS232 connections. With this remote access, you can turn individual duplex receptacles on and off and monitor AC power receptacles for electrical current flow. The iP 1520 has a 20-amp capacity and provides AC line conditioning and surge protection.

The iP 1520 boats high quality design and construction as well as the most important features needed for web-based remote control. It has a 20-amp circuit breaker and power cord for an effective 16-amp current rating. It can sequence audio equipment on and off, reduce energy consumption by scheduling equipment to be on only when needed, or remote reboot DSPs or other processor based electronics. The Power Cycle feature can be used to automatically reboot a network data router if network communication is lost. You can individually control each duplex to turn on and off, and each is individually metered to report current flow. The front of the chassis includes status LEDs and override switches that allow local monitoring and control.

You can access all the functions of the iP 1520 through Ethernet or RS232 ports on the back of the chassis. An onboard web server gives it immediate Internet or intranet functionality through a graphic interface accessible via a web browser. You can also control it through RS232 commands using a terminal program or a third party control system.

The iP 1520 allows local and remote monitoring of the operating status of the unit and of connected equipment. The front of the chassis features a white LED that indicates connection to a data network. This light stays on during active network connection and blinks in the event of Ethernet communications failure or RS232 connection. Each of the three green LEDs on the front of the chassis will indicate that a corresponding Power Pod receptacle has been turned on. The iP 1520 can also be remote monitored via the same TCP/IP or RS232 connection used to control it. Current metering on each of the Power Pods reports amperage levels from 0.20 to 20.0 amps and can be accessed through the on-board web server or via RS232 protocol.

The iP 1520 features three levels of on and off control to provide fail safe operation in the event of system or unit malfunction. First, the iP 1520 can be remote controlled via Ethernet or RS 232 communication links. Second, in the event of network connection failure, the switch on the front left of the chassis becomes operational and can be used to turn on the three switched Power Pods in a sequenced fashion. Lastly, in the event of a failure of the internal control circuitry, the Manual Override switch of the front of the chassis will cause a hardwired turn on of all switched receptacles.

The iP 1520 provides AC line protection and filtration across hot, neutral and ground. In addition to guarding against dangerous voltage surges, the unit uses a multi-step filter that includes a series mode component to reduce high frequency common and normal mode noise by up to 70 dB in a range up to 30 Mhz.
